Welcome to our Tutorial
Today you will learn how to use a web tool to create a web log, or 'blog.' This will allow you to easily post news and events online without editing a HTML file. You can then link your blog into your web site and have all your friends and family stay in touch with you.
For this tutorial, we will be using blogger.com as the tool to create your blog. There are also numerous other options you can use, such as LiveJournal, or MovableType for the more advanced user. However, since Blogger is 100% free and the easiest to use, it is our tool of choice.
A blog, and hence Blogger, can also be used for a number of other things; essentially, any other page on your site can be maintained via a set of entries. Once you are familiar with the concept of having a typical blog you will see how you can use the tool to do more for you, all while making your site maintainance much easier.
For this tutorial, you will need:
- An Internet connection
- An Internet browser
- An RPI RCS account [or another FTP account]
We will assume that you are familiar with using the Internet browser of your choice. Our examples will be in Internet Explorer 6.0; visuals may vary slightly if you are using a different browser.
