What We Left Behind by Tom Pacheco

Time is moving like a jet plane, life is rolling by so fast,
Everybody's rushing through the seasons, the present quickly is the past.
People everywhere are chasing money, looking for that big, big score.
Worn-out, stressed, sad, depressed, they can't take it anymore.

We've all got to grow a little garden, stay home a whole lot more
Hang around the kitchen table, get to know the folks next door.
Families might get a little closer, maybe make a few new friends,
I think we'd find what we left behind, is worth bringing back again.

The media machine, the great commotion, The talking heads on the TV
A mini-series made from every story, they squeeze it 'til the penny bleeds,
Attracting and distracting us from living and focusing on what is real
A lover's touch that means so much, the feelings our children feel.

We've all got to grow a little garden, stay home a whole lot more
Hang around the kitchen table, get to know the folks next door.
Families might get a little closer, maybe make a few new friends,
I think we'd find what we left behind, is worth bringing back again.

The terror coming over the horizon, you never know what it will be
For me I'd rather sit by my dad and watch a squirrel climb a tree.
The planet can change for the better, together we'll make it shine
If we join hands across the land, one neighborhood at a time.

We've all got to grow a little garden, stay home a whole lot more
Hang around the kitchen table, get to know the folks next door.
Families might get a little closer, maybe make a few new friends,
I think we'd find what we left behind, is worth bringing back again.
