The Project Page
Announcements
- Presentation schedule and information
- Project grading: Here is how I'd like to break down the project grading:
- 15% Paper summaries
- 10% Phase 1
- 15% Presentation
- 60% Project report (and final demonstration, if applicable)
Since this is coming rather late, I am open to comments on this breakdown. Please email me before the end of the week.
- Project report: Your project report should follow the format and
style of the research papers we have been reading over the course of
the semester. An appropriate length is 6--10 pages. Like the
research papers we have read during the semester, there should be an
abstract, introduction, related work, and conclusions sections (in
addition to the body of the paper.
Please send me email if you have any questions or if I should
provide more guidelines regarding the project report.
- The user's manual for the mobile robot is out. (It's still a work in progress!) (postscript, pdf)
Information
Due dates
- February 22: preliminary project proposal (via email, ascii text
files preferred; no MS Word documents!)
- February 28: final project proposal (hardcopy)
- March 20: summary of at least 3 references (these do not have to
be from the list of 5 you submitted with your final project proposal)
- March 29: phase 1 (a one to two page description of your progress
to date; demos to be arranged on a case by case basis)
- April 19, 24, and 26: class presentations (short presentation,
possibly including a demonstration)
- April 26: Final project report and demonstration to be arranged
with Prof. Huang.
Unfortunately, I expect to be out of town during the last week of classes
which will make the demonstrations a bit difficult. One possibility
is to do a demonstration with Richard Fauconier and have it videotaped
for me to review later. In such cases, I will likely require that I
receive a draft of the final project report in the previous week so
that I can leave some questions for the demonstration. Another
possibility is for me to give extensions for demonstrations to be done
when I get back.
