Cisco CCNA Exam requirements

Week 1        January 24th

 

  1. Homework #1 –   Take Exploration I Final Exam (you received email about being enrolled in this course).  Fill out the course evaluation.  This is so that you can qualify for a voucher for the CCNA exam.  It is not important what score you receive on the exam. 
  2. Read CCNA Chapter 1 – Internetworking
  3. Additional reading – CCNA Portable Command Guide – chapters 4 and 5

  5. In class assignments – grading policy overview and demos:  basics of SWITCHrs/switches – console vs. telnet – book reading – certs overview – cisco.com
  6. Download and install on your laptop PacketTracer 5.3:  (Get username and password from David, Chris, TAs) We will be using this in class on Thursday so you need to bring your laptop to class unless you want to be bored! 
  7. Make sure you can login to:  http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/index.html    Use the "Academy Connection" on the right hand side of the page (Not the "Log In" at the top of the page).  Check your email for the username and password.  You will be taking a practice exam on Thursday.  You do not need to study for it.  It is related to obtaining a voucher for a discount on the CCNA exam.

 

January  26th

*******You should sign up for your exam before the next class.  October 18th will be the in-class mid-term for those not taking the 640-802 exam.  There is no one testing center that I recommend in the Capital District. All of them have their pluses and minuses. You must sign up with Vue to take any of the Cisco certification exams.  You must complete the first attempt of this exam before or on the 18th of October.

All Certification EXAMs and LABs must be completed and in to David in Lally 316 no later than December 8th.  Remember that if you fail a Cisco certification exam, you must wait 5 business days before you can retake the exam.  Unless you are CERTAIN you will pass the exam on the first try, then schedule your exam accordingly.
