Research

I am interested in both designing effective algorithms for agents in complex, uncertain environments and in understanding the social or collective outcomes of individual behavior. Therefore, I have broad interests across computational social science (market microstructure, matching markets, social networks) and machine learning (reinforcement learning, sequential decision-making, supervised learning, data mining). You can find more details in a relatively recent research statement or on my papers page.

Funding

I am grateful to be supported by:

  • An NSF CAREER award on The Dynamics of Collective Intelligence (May 2010 -- May 2015).

  • A US-Israel Binational Science Foundation grant (with David Sarne) on "Equilibria in Shopping-Agent Mediated Marketplaces" (Oct 2009 -- Sep 2013).

  • An NSF CDI Type II grant (as co-PI) for Cyber Enabled Discovery System for Advanced Multidisciplinary Study of Humanitarian Logistics for Disaster Response (with PI Jose Holguin-Veras, co-PIs Malik Magdon-Ismail and John Mitchell, in collaboration with Tricia Wachtendorf at the University of Delaware) (Jan 2012 -- Dec 2015).
