Homework:  BSCN, pp. 65-95, 99-119

Lab:        A lot of this lab is about learning what does NOT work!

1. Take either a class B or a class C IP address.  Subnet it down in a way that each link has a different subnet mask.  (Example:  /30, /29, /28, /27, /26).  Make sure you draw a diagram of it so that you do not get confused.   Make sure there is a major network boundry on the link between serial 0/3 and your backbone router (you will have to take turns configuring the backbone router).  Do a "show ip route" in the backbone for each routing protocol.  Which protocols work?  Set up routing using

1.  RIP, v1

2.  RIP, v2

3.  IGRP

4.  EIGRP

5.  OSPF    (Check the sample configs for EIGRP and OSPF).

Beware of intentional (and unintentional!) errors on my part.  Troubleshoot where necessary.

2.  Duplicate in your pod the error in the diagram on page 81

3.  Duplicate in your pod the error in the diagram on page 82

4.  Even though you know nothing about OSPF, try the exercises on pp. 143 thru 151 (answers 152 - 162).  (The exercises assumes your pod is set up the way you configured it from pages 43-45.)  You should save a copy in notepad in your personal directory of the basic pod configs.  The purpose of doing this BEFORE you read the chapter, is to give you some hands-on before you deal with a lot of new concepts.   Struggle through as best you can.  Then we will try it again after you have read the concepts.
