Data Transfer Modes
•STREAM: file is transmitted as a  stream of bytes. •BLOCK: file is transmitted as a series of blocks preceded by headers containing count and descriptor code (EOF, EOR, restart marker). •COMPRESSED: uses a simple compression scheme - compressed blocks are transmitted.
