Graduate ProgramConference travel reimbursementIf you are presenting a paper or poster at a conference, your expenses can usually be reimbursed by your advisor, the department, and/or the Office of Graduate Education (OGE). The School of Science does not offer travel funding. To request OGE funding, complete the form at http://www.rpi.edu/dept/grad/docs/StudentProfessionalMeetingPresentationRequest.pdf. You'll need to enter the amount of funding you'll be receiving from your advisor and from the department, and you will also need to include a copy of your invitation letter from the conference, as well as an abstract of the paper or poster you will be presenting. To request Computer Science Department funding, contact Martin Hardwick. Let him know about what funding you will be receiving from your advisor and from the Office of Graduate Education. He is not likely to approve department funding unless it is impossible to cover the expenses with other sources of funding. After you have completed the form, attached the required documents, and gotten your advisor's signature, you can give the form to Terry Hayden. She will get the department chair's signature. If the department is not contributing funds, the department chair still signs, but the amount listed is 0. After Terry gets the department chair's signature, she will send a scan of the form and attached documents to the financial manager, Carol Trifaro. Carol will then submit the form to Trina Beaudoin in the Office of Graduate Education. The Office of Graduate Education will fund no more than one conference per student per semester. The maximum amount the Office of Graduate Education will contribute is $250. After you have attended the conference, submit your receipts to Chris Coonrad so she can process your reimbursement.
