Thesis Defense
When your thesis is complete, you must defend it in a public exam
conducted by your committee. You will need to:
- Schedule the defense for a time when all committee members
can be present.
- Reserve a room. Defenses are usually held in the CII. You can
call x2350 to reserve a room in the CII or the JEC.
- Make a sign announcing your defense. Submit the sign to
Chris Coonrad in Lally 207 for posting.
Copies should be posted in the lounge and in both the north
and south halls of the first floor of Amos Eaton.
- Place a copy of your thesis in the lounge, so that those who
wish to attend your defense may look at it in advance.
- Either you or your advisor should send an e-mail message to all Computer
Science faculty and grad students, notifying them that the thesis
is in the lounge and inviting them to attend your defense.
- Fill out a Record of Thesis/Project Examination form. You can download the
form from the Graduate School
or obtain a hard copy from Terry Hayden. After your defense, be sure your advisor fills
in the number of credits awarded and signs the form. The form should
then be turned in to Terry Hayden, who will submit it to the Graduate School.
If you prefer to submit it to the Graduate School yourself, give Terry
a photocopy of the form before submitting it.
