GRE General Test

• Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing sections.
• Computer test.
• May be able to schedule as late as a few days in advance.

• You can look at the Kaplan book GRE Exam 2005 in Terry Hayden's office (Lally 208).
• Format will change in fall 2007. Less vocabulary and geometry, more critical thinking.

GRE Subject test

• Paper test.
• Offered three times a year: November, December, April.
• Can be taken on RPI campus, site code 13179.
• Registration deadline is about 5 weeks before test date.
• Scores mailed 4-6 weeks after test, so you must take the test well before application deadline.
• Covers:
  • 40% Software Systems and Methodology
  • 15% Computer Organization and Architecture
  • 40% Theory and Mathematical Background
  • 5% Other
