Course Description

The increasing pervasiveness of computers in our society increasingly exposes issues in computer ethics --- the societal impact of computer technology and its associated policies. This class will be a reading seminar in which we will examine a number of topics including privacy, security, intellectual property, and professional responsibility.

Enrollment will be limited to no more than 20 students.

Course Details

Let me state at the outset that I am not an expert in computer ethics; I will be learning along with the class, and this is the reason for the reading seminar format.

We will read and discuss a chapter from this text each week. I think you can expect an hour or two of reading per week outside of class. I hope we will also have discussions on current events related to computer ethics.
