Last update before I go to bed.  The conjugate gradient hessian is 
working for MPI now as well,
its converging in 30 iterations (as opposed to cgd's 19).  Is this the 
correct behavior?

At any rate, the code is committed to CVS.  I'll try and have the SALSA 
version updated tomorrow.
