Actually the option section shouldn't be there

That sounds right. It has been definitely true in the past but I'm not really sure what the current state is. You definitely need X running. Also on AMD you can't have Xinerama enabled or more than the first GPU also won't show up.

There's nothing involving Milkyway or BOINC there. The driver situation is moderately terrible everywhere.
