Check out the USAID "FWD" mashup presented in Alex Howard's blog:
http://gov20.govfresh.com/usaid-goes-fwd-with-open-data-and-open-government/
Notice several features:
* The amount of info in the mouseover pop-ups
* The *way* info is presented --- use of icons etc
* Some of the open tools used:
http://radar.oreilly.com/2011/04/open-source-mapping-node.html
Also, note what's not (completely) show:
* All of the source datasets (only one is linked to, and not from the
demo itself)
* The actual source code
Ugrads esp, we really need to come on board creating these!
BTW, a conversion note: One of the datasets used for this demo was the
Data.gov "Famine Early Warning System" data, apparently added 18 Sep
2011

Let's get Gemini at 100% and get this data into LOGD!
