Abstract:
Dr. Zaki will talk about his trekking expedition in the Garhwal
Himalayas in India. He'll present slides and video of the
two parts of the trek. The first was a 2-day 38km round-trip
trek from Gangotri to the Gaumukh Glacier (at 4200m), which is
the source of the Ganges River (holy in Hinduism). The second
trek was a one-way 90km trek along the ridge-lines to Sahastratal
on the way to the Khalting Glacier, climbing to a maximum height
of 4800m (15,800ft).
