Region
The purpose of incorporating region names into the database is to facilitate searching for samples from a specific geographic area without having to know latitude and longitude. Prior to creating a new region for your samples, please look for other samples in the vicinity to see if a match exists.
Things to consider
- There is no limit to the number of possible regions.
- A sample can exist in more than one region (i.e. regions can overlap)
- Regions should not be so small as to include only a single outcrop (? what do you think about this?)

- Shuswap complex
- Snowbird tectonic zone
- Cyclades blueschist belt
- Llano uplift
- Abakuma terrane
- Dalradian
- Buchan terrane
- Arunta block
- Broken Hill district
- Noshobu terrane
- Bright Angel Canyon
