Groups/Mailing lists on gmail

Individual users can create groups at http://groups.google.com/a/cs.rpi.edu following the directions at http://groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=46601 and http://groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=1047839

basic group creation

• log in with your userid and password at http://groups.google.com/a/cs.rpi.edu
• click on create a group
• fill in the group name and description, and then select the appropriate access settings and click Create my group
• If you are transitioning a bulk list, you may want to select add members directly
• fill in the email address(es) and welcome message if you're sending one, and select the subscription options and then click add members
