Database for group projects

Requesting creation of a project database

• A CS faculty member should email labstaff@cs.rpi.edu with the following information:
  • Database name
  • Estimates for
    • Disk storage requirements
    • Volume of user access (high/low)
    • Volume of network traffic generated by queries (high/low)
  • Database user access
    • A list of users to grant insert/update/select/... access.
    • A list of table/sql operations to restrict [ DELETE, TRIGGER, etc ]
    • Should read access be granted to the world or limited to your group ?
  • Programming language(s) needed for database access
    • C / C++ / java / perl / php
    • Ruby on Rails
  • Will the database need to be backed up ?
  • Any special requirements for the setup/config ?
