I am currently working in the area of Proactive Problem Avoidance and QoS Guarantees for Large Heterogeneous Networks.  This research is done in conjunction with a group from the ECSE department here at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

More specifically, I am now working on creating distributed intelligent agents based on adaptive learning techniques to retrieve, analyze, manipulate, and store network data to facilitate proactive problem avoidance.  A few other researchers and I have developed the DOOR system (Distributed Online Object Repositories) to do just that.

The DOOR system utilizes both agent technology as well as distributed system communication to facilitate active monitoring of a network without interfering with network traffic expectations.   To find out more about the DOOR system take a look at our paper "Agent-Based Network Monitoring."   This paper was submitted to the Agent Based High Performance Computing conference in Seattle, Washington in February of 1999.
