Christos Boutsidis

I am a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Computer Science Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, New York).

In my research I am focusing on the algorithmic aspects and the theoretical foundations of

Linear Algebra
Mathematical Programming
Probability Theory

such that to be able to solve practical problems that arise in Machine Learning and Data Mining.

I feel privileged to closely collaborate with Michael W. Mahoney.

Summer 2008: I am a research intern in the Service Engineering Department (managed by Nikos Anerousis) at IBM Watson Research Center (New York). I am lucky to have Jimeng Sun mentoring me during my stay at IBM Research.

Back in Greece: I graduated from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department (CEID) at the University of Patras, in July 2006, with a bachelor in Computer Engineering. I had the privilege to have Professor Efstratios Gallopoulos as my diploma thesis advisor during the last year of my studies.
