Projects

Your grade for the course will be determined from your laboratory attendance and your scores on 3 exams and 4 programming projects.

Labs

There are 12 labs scheduled for the semester.  The number of labs you complete will determine your lab grade.

#Labs 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 0-1
Grade A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D- F

Exams

There will be 3 exams given during the semester.  There will be two hour long exams given during class and one final exam given during finals week.  The final exam will be worth twice as much as the first two exams. Your raw exam score will be converted (curved) into a letter grade based on the class average and grade distribution.

Projects

There will be 4 projects given during the semester.  Your projects will be evaluated by the TA's and a letter grade will be assigned to each project based on correctness, design, and documentation.

Final Grade

Your final letter grade will be computed based on the average of 10 grades.  Your lab grade and final exam grades count as two grades (i.e. they are weighted twice as much as the other grades.  The following table will be used to assign a numeric value to each grade..

A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D- F
4.0 3.7 3.3 3.0 2.7 2.3 2.0 1.7 1.3 1.0 0.7 0.0

Final letter grades will be determined based on the following table

Average >=3.5 >=2.5 >=1.5 >=0.5 < 0.5
Final Grade A B C D F

Example

Lab Exam 1 Exam 2 Final Project 1 Project 2 Project 3 Project 4
B+ C+ C B- C- B B A
3.3 + 3.3 2.3 2.0 2.7 + 2.7 1.7 3.0 3.0 4.0

Average = (3.3 + 3.3 + 2.3 + 2.0 + 2.7 + 2.7 + 1.7 + 3.0 + 3.0 + 4.0)/10 = 2.8
Final Grade = B
