Graduate Program Development

At the graduate level, I and another senior faculty member spearheaded an effort to change the graduate program to allow Ph.D. students to begin research earlier. We were observing that the old system forced students to concentrate on course work to the exclusion of research. The changes we instituted are now allowing fresh Ph.D. students to begin their research upon arrival, enabling them to complete their Ph.D. degrees in a shorter amount of time.
