Senior Year
Senior year, after a summer doing an internship back at home, I returned to Wellesley the latest I had yet--the first day that upperclasswomen were allowed back in. It was weird to come back at the regular time with everyone, particularly since that was the longest I had been away from Wellesley since I had stared.
This year, I lived in Munger Hall, in a decent sized room (well, at least bigger than my little closet in Shafer!). Lindsay was diagonally across the hall from me, in a massive room--the biggest in Munger--which also had the advantage of having no neighbors, which was a big bonus. Heather lived nearly below me, in a similar room, but bigger--with a big bay window, and T and Jess were both down the hall from here. Carrie lived on the other side of the dorm, and Jessie on the first floor. My friend Alina was also two stories below me. Clearly, Munger was an excellent dorm in which to live. In addition to the fact that everyone except for Aida was there (she was living in an excellent on-campus apartment), Munger had the best dining hall on campus, despite being closed on weekends--it was small, not crowded, had apple crisp more than anywhere, and the best quality food. I loved it. I can't believe they've since closed it. Overall, senior year was a very interesting year. All of us spent a lot of time at Last Call--a kind of Late Show-esque show every Wednesday in Molly's Pub on campus. For spring break, Lindsay and I went to Spain, which was really excellent, and we met up with Carrie and Jessie while we were there. Spring Weekend was incredible for the third year in a row--the Indigo Girls played, and Lindsay actually got to go up on stage and sing with Amy Ray! We did all the traditional senior stuff, including Hoop Rolling, Step Singing (where the gave out bottles of champagne for free--the last time, so I've heard), and all the senior weekend madness like the Senior Gala. It was a fitting last year to Wellesley, good in some parts, upsetting in others, and overall, left me sad to leave but at least closer to ready to move on. (Left, Lindsay, Carrie, Jessie, Me, and the waiter at an Irish pub in Seville, Spain; right, me and Lindsay at graduation)
In terms of schoolwork (have you noticed it's always the last thing which I mention?), I took an increasing number of computer science classes this year. My first semester, I took CS 240 (Intro to Machine Organization), Math 206 (Linear Algebra), CS 307 (Intro to Computer Graphics), and Hist 338 (Seminar: European Resistance Movements in World War II). For my last semester ever at Wellesley--and my last semester being free to take humanities classes--I took CS 235 (Languages and Automata), CS 341 (Operating Systems), Econ 238 (Economics and Politics) and Hist 228 (Renaissance and Reformation in Northern Europe).
