Folk Music

Radio: I'm a member of WRPI, where I'm one of several people who take turns hosting the Mostly Folk show. My turn comes on the second Sunday of even-numbered months.

Concerts: In the past I have volunteered at at Mother's, The Eighth Step and the Tao of Tao program at WAMC. Now the Tao of Tao program no longer exists and Mother's is no longer the folk venue it used to be. The Eighth Step also went on hiatus for a while, which is why I stopped volunteering for them. Do all folk venues that I volunteer at go out of business? The Eighth Step is now back, but now WRPI keeps me busy enough so I haven't been so involved with the Eighth Step since they came back. Maybe if I keep it that way, my bad luck will stay away from them and they won't go out of business.

Festivals: I volunteer at the Clearwater festival every year.

Favorite musicians (folk): Eric Andersen, Luka Bloom, Broadside Electric, Greg Brown, Eva Cassidy, Leonard Cohen, Lui Collins, the Cottars, Joe Crookston, Donovan, the Duhks, Cliff Eberhardt, Gideon Freudmann, Ronnie Gilbert, the Greencards, Kim and Reggie Harris, Le Vent du Nord, Gordon Lightfoot, the Mammals, the McKrells, Neal and Leandra, Tim O'Brien, Ollabelle, Tom Paxton, Peter, Paul and Mary, Schooner Fare, the Serendipity Singers, Smithfield Fair, Suroit, Sweet Honey in the Rock, the Weavers, Cheryl Wheeler, Kate Wolf, and Woods Tea Company.

Favorite musicians (nonfolk): While folk is my passion, there are certainly other types of music I enjoy, including music that was popular in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, nueva canción, show tunes, gospel, and new age. Non-folk musicians I've enjoyed include Abba, the Beatles, the Bee Gees, Phil Coulter, Buddy Holly, Elton John, Meat Loaf, Renaissance, Happy Rhodes, Simon and Garfunkel, Spirit in Flesh, and George Winston.

Compiling information

I love compiling information about all sorts of things, including about music. Here are some of things I've put together about music:
