Vissiting Artists from India to this Area

  1. Sri P.N. Krishnamoorthy is back in Clifton Park, Capital District. He will be conducting music classes on one on one basis for advanced as well as beginning students in Carnatic music. November 20 Kabir Bhajan Concert by Krishna Kant Shukla and Nalini Madiwale with Vishnu Sahay Mathur on Tabla Thursday, November 20, 2003, Time: 7:30 PM Place: Hartwick College, Shineman Chapel Oneonta, NY The concert is free and open to the public. Krishna Kant Shukla is a classical singer trained by Ali Akbar Khan, Lakshmi Shankar, and others, and especially devoted to the musical art of Kumar Gandharva, one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century. Shukla was drawn to music from an early age. Following the family tradition, he took up a career in science, earning a Ph.D. in physics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and began a teaching career in the U.S. In 1994, he returned to India in order to devote himself to music. Nalini Madiwale is a practicing ophthalmologist in the capitol region. She was initiated in classical music by Shri Desai Master of Hubli, India. She is currently guided by Pt. Vijay Kichlu. Vishnu Sahay Mathur is a senior professor of physics at University of Rochester. He was initiated in Tabla by his father Shri Jagdish Sahay Mathur at a very early age and has kept his skills sharpened by accompanying local artists in USA for last 40 years.

Sept 20, 2003, 5-8:00 pm Jesu Das concert in Syracuse, NY The well known singer Jesu das will be giving a perdormance( Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi songs) on Saturday September 20 , 2003 from 5 PM-8 PM at Syracuse Civic Center, Syracuse, NY. Kavitha Das in Capital District has some tickets ( about 6 or so ) with her. The general admission costs $ 50. If you are interested, please call her at 518-786-9747 and get the tickets and directions to the venue.
