Do not miss this great concert. ************************************************************************** Biography Chinmaya Sisters (Vocal) Chinmaya sisters UMA and RADHIKA were initiated into music by their mother Smt. Bhavani Natesan at a very young age and had their basic training from her. Later on they came under the tutelage of Neyveli Shri R.Santhanagopalan and learnt from him for a period of about 12 years. Since the past 8 years they have been learning from the renowned vocalist Madurai Shri T.N.Seshagopalan. They come from a family of devotees of Swami Chinmayananda and are fortunate to have sung before him. Having received his blessings they have been named “CHINMAYA SISTERS” by their guru Neyveli Shri R. Santhanagopalan. v They have been giving music concerts regularly under the auspices of renowned Sabhas such as Music Academy, Mylapore Fine Arts, Narada Gana Sabha, Indian Fine Arts, Nungambakkam Cultural Academy, Bharath Kalachar and many more. v They have five music albums to their credit, the latest release being three volumes titled “RAAGA ARCHANA” from Magnasound. v Award endowed by Carnatic Music Association Of North America (CMANA) for their performance in The Music Academy in the December music festival 1998. Mr. B. V. Raghavendra Rao(Violin) hails from a family of musicians. He was initiated to music by his father at a young age of 5. He trained rigorously for several years and learnt to play the violin from Sangeetha Kalanidhi T. N. Krishnan, and later received invaluable guidance form Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. As a young artiste he has received the appreciation of the President of India for accompanying a musical genius. He has won several prizes and awards from various organizations. He has performed all over the world, including U.S.A., Canada, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and the Middle Eastern countries, and has accompanied several leading artists. He has performed at the Lincoln Center along with Dr. Balamuralikrishna and received rave reviews. Raghavendra's devotion and his quest for perfection find its expression in his instrument Mr. Melakkaveri Balaji (Mridangam) had his initial training in mridangam from his father Mr. Melakaveri Krishnamurthy. He has been performing on concerts since 1983 and regularly accompanying all the senior/junior musicians of today both in India and abroad. He has performed for the December music season for organizations such as Music Academy, Bharat Kalachar, India Fine Arts, Narada Gana Sabha. He has been conferred the Yuva Kala Bharathi in 1995. He is A-grade artiste of All India Radio, Chennai and Doordharshan Kendra, Chennai. He has traveled abroad for performing concerts in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
