Research

I am broadly interested in both designing effective algorithms for agents in complex, uncertain environments and in understanding the social or collective outcomes of individual behavior. The first half of that statement is intended to encompass my interests in reinforcement learning and sequential decision-making as well as in supervised learning and data-mining. The second half includes computational finance (mostly microstructure) and economics (mostly two-sided matching and search), as well as social networks. I'm interested in modeling with both rational and low-intelligence agents. You can find more details on on my papers page (better categorization coming soon!)

  • I am a PC co-chair for AMMA: The First Conference on Auctions, Market Mechanisms, and their Applications. The conference will be held in Boston on May 8-9, 2009. We have an exciting program!
