This homework is designed to get you familiar with OOPSMP and Google Sketchup. Before you will be able to complete this homework, you should go through the tutorials found here (about 1 hour should get you up to speed): http://www.kavrakilab.org/OOPSMP/sketchup.html This has comprehensive tutorials on how to use OOPSMP once you have the plugin built for SketchUp as well as a link to Google's own SketchUp tutorials. Use SketchUp and the OOPSMP interface to design a floor plan for a home, school, office, etc. Essentially any building with multiple rooms. Add any furniture or obstacles you'd like then add a Roomba-like (circular) robot and use OOPSMP to 'clean' the building. If anyone is unfamiliar with what a Roomba is, there are multiple videos on youtube of the device, such as this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ-jv8g1YVI usually depicted as driven by a cat. The cat is of course optional. When you have completed the homework, save the SketchUp file and the solution files generated by OOPSMP (see the 'Solving your motion planning problem' video on the OOPSMP link above to see how to generate these files), zip them up and send them to farmab@rpi.edu with your RCS ID in the name of the file.
