Cohos Trail Pictures

This is the full set of pictures from the Cohos Trail trip I took. The captions are more for my own benefit as I write my trail journal, so I can keep them straight, but maybe they'll make sense to you, too.

Day 1, on trail up Mt. Martha.

Me on the trail up Mt. Martha - first day, start of trip.

View from summit of Mt. Martha. Bitterly cold and windy. My pack in the foreground.

Sunset from Owlshead. Came out badly; the light streak was actually a bright pink/red, but digital cameras aren't up to that yet.

Camp my first night out. Too small for my tent, very very cold. About a quarter mile down from summit of Owlshead.

Summit of Owlshead from Rt 115.

This, too, is part of the trail! (South of Jefferson)

Tenting on Mt. Starr King, second night. Many moutain ridgelines in the background.

The chimney that's all that remains of the cabin that once stood here on Mt. Starr King. This night was so windy I hardly slept at all.

Bunnell Rock, about 45 minutes below the summit cabin on Mt. Cabot. View from rock.

View from overlook at summit of Victor's Head Cliffs. The lake is Christine Lake.

View of overlook at summit of Victor's Head Cliffs. The brown patch on the left is moss.

Percy Peaks, seen from directly east at Victor's Head (summit). The peaks are the model for the Cohos Trail Logo.

North Percy seen from the summit of South Percy.

My campsite on top of South Percy. No tent - yay, sleeping under the Milky Way! That's my shadow with the hand upraised.

View away from my campsite on the summit. The summit canister is visible, cabled to the dead tree in the top left of the picture.

Sunrise over South Percy, early.

View from my last campsite, facing west by southwest toward the northwest peaks. The pockmarks in the ground are mooseprints, hundreds and hundreds of them.

Big Diamond Pond, by the Sportsmen's Lodge in the far north.
