FAZIL HÜSNÜ DAGLARCA
Seçme Siirler * Selected Poems
< i >
Translated by Talat Sait Halman

Dal

Branch

The mountain stretches to the sky.
     Into darkness the dead stretch.

Living is an arrival from where to where,
Out of pain, raw yellow and thoughts -- a stretch.

Are you in love, empty after the kisses?
Here beauty has left an ugly stretch.

Echoes, from the planets an ache comes and goes,
And the beheaded structures of heaven stretch.

As we stretch, perhaps tonight, perhaps on this bed,
Into the darkest secret we stretch.
